Crabbing over the patio of our wooden
water chalet was an awesome experience!
A hotel staff helping Josh to set up the crab net
There are two openings for the crab to enter. Once they get in, they can't find their way out again
A squid is tied to the centre of the net and used as bait
Lowering the net into the water below
Our first catch of the day
A total of
seven six (one escaped!) crabs and a hermit crab were caught!
This little guy was different than the rest
There is a service charge of RM30 (USD10) if you want your crabs cooked by the hotel's kitchen staff but we didn't have the heart to eat those little fellas. And so back into the sea they went!

I love to go crabbing. Haven't been in years though. If I caught crabs there is no way my Hubs would let me throw them back.
Now that's one thing I can say I've never done. It looks fun though.
reminds me of my childhood. we used to go the the landing on kauai when we visited my grandma and go crabbing!

I'd have let them go too. It just feel guilty eating something I've looked in the eye.

Aww, that's sweet that you threw them back in. :)
The pics are great, I bet it was fun.
Oh! That looked like so much fun. We used to go catch crabs in Maine with nets. We called it crab nabbin' lol
We would never eat the little guys either. (Quite frankly I don't like seafood!) Have a great week! :)
Neat!! My family goes crabbing and eats them. I never can eat them, I feel like they're looking at me. :(

I'd probably toss them back too :)
What fun! We always let them go instead of cooking when I was a child, too.

Interesting reading about crabbing and seeing the pictures Veronica. I hope your Wednesday is going well.
that 3rd one looks like it has the same shell as the hermit crab. I don't eat crab meat, to rich for my tastes. besides I am crabby enough, LOL.
It looks like fun but I'd be worried about my fingers still.
Thanks for linking up.
That looks like a great experience for your boys. I've never done gone crabbing or fishing.
