Valentine Ribbon Rose Cookies

Bear with me, pallies!  I know I've been posting nothing but cookies lately. I can't help it, folks! I am having so much fun decorating cookies with royal icing and fondant.
I saw these on Ali Bee's blog and they were calling out to me. Make me!  Make me!

Here's the video to share.

Valentine Rose Cookies

When my niece asked me if I could make something Valentine-ish for her upcoming class party, I knew I could count on  the very talented Callye @ The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle for inspiration. And here's what I came up with.

Toddlewood

While some find these pics of kids dressed in outfits mimicking the likes of Beyoncé, Anne Hathaway, George Clooney, etc  adorable,  others are appalled by the idea of kids being pushed into the limelight and treated as sex symbols.

Photographer Tricia Messeroux @ Toddlewood transformed a selection of children into mini-mes to mimic the event's A-listers.

Groundhog Cupcakes

I didn't know there was a Groundhog Day until I started blogging! Heck, I've never even seen a real groundhog before! I am quite sure we don't have those critters over here on our side of the pond. But then again, we don't have spring either - just boring old summer all year round. A Groundhog Day party sounds fun! Boy, have we been missing out!
When these groundhog cupcakes popped up on Pinterest, I just couldn't resist making them. They are so stinkin' cute!

Dad Colours His Kids' Drawings

Tattoo artist Fred Giovannitti who spends 10 days out of each month, out of state to work, colours his kids' drawings when he is on the plane. When he leaves for his monthly trips, the kids  give him pictures they've drawn. Fred colors the drawings, transforms them into amazing works of art and gives the pictures back to Freddie, aged eight, and Sofia, six, when he returns.

'My children like to draw me pictures for my trip so I can keep them close to me while I'm away,' he says.

What a sweet collaboration between a loving father and his kids!

Cardboad Box Office

With a stockpile of cardboard boxes from their move from New Zealand to Sydney, a social life that was dramatically reduced and a baby that needs to be kept busy, young Kiwi couple Leon and Lilly Mackie discovered a creative way to put those cardboard boxes to good use and add a little fun to some of those housebound weekends!

Chinese New Year Cookies

Now that the holidays are officially over, I can finally return to normalcy, right? Wrong!  Another round of preparations for the next festival has just begun!!! This Chinese Lunar Year which is the year of the horse, by the way, falls on the 31st of January 2014. That means......
more excuses to squander housework time for baking cookies!  Yayyyyy!
Cherry Blossoms and red lanterns are so quintessentially Chinese, so I came up with these. What do you think?

Eye Makeup by Tal Peleg

Hope you all had a terrific Christmas and are enjoying what's remaining of 2013 with your loved ones. We had a wonderful Christmas. My sisters and their families from Singapore and Canada and cousins from Australia celebrated  Christmas over lunch at my parents' place. Lots of chaos but a very fun occasion.

Malaysian schools open on Thursday, Jan 2, 2014 and it will be tough to get back into rhythm after a two month break. I know, I've been slacking in the blogging department - blame it on the holiday mood that makes you wanna just sit back and relax and do nothing except maybe bake cookies!

Meanwhile, enjoy these mind-blowing mini works of art by makeup artist Tal Peleg from Israel who uses eyelids as her canvas.
