Frozen

Bebaskan , bebaskan , tak dapat ku pendam lagi........

Dang! I just can't get this song out of my head! And if you're wondering what I'm rambling about, it's that song from the movie "Frozen", except that this is our Malay version, one of the 25 different languages the song "Let It Go" was sung in.

"Bebaskan" by Marsha Milan Londoh

And here's the youtube video my son has been playing all morning

"Let It Go" in 25 languages in 4 minutes

I was inspired to make these cookies. Can you guess what they are?  Hint - they are supposed to be Olaf, the adorable talking snowman from "Frozen". My boys thought they were ghosts before I added those twiggy hands and hair!  Dang! And I was so proud of my attempt!

So how are my bloggy buddies from the other side of the pond keeping?  Still battling the cold in this never ending winter? On the other extreme, we're baking over here in the unrelenting heat. We've been having a hot and dry spell for several weeks now.

Leprechaun Owl Cookies

Owls seem to be the most popular item on pinterest. Knitted, crocheted, sculpted, felted, quilled, cookied and cupcaked, you find adorable images of these nocturnal birds popping up everywhere!
Owl in Malay is "Burung Hantu" which translates as ghost bird and is believed  by the Chinese and Malays to be a symbol of doom and death. When I was little, I used to think that owls ate babies as told by my grandma!
Older and certainly wiser now, I wish to depict these magnificent creatures in a different light - a leprechaun owl cookie for good luck.
Interestingly, I slipped and fell hard on my butt  when I was reaching out for my rolling pin in the overhead kitchen cabinet while making these owlies. Bad luck or sheer coincidence? Ouch! My butt still hurts as I am typing this!

Toddlewood

While some find these pics of kids dressed in outfits mimicking the likes of BeyoncĂ©, Anne Hathaway, George Clooney, etc  adorable,  others are appalled by the idea of kids being pushed into the limelight and treated as sex symbols.

Photographer Tricia Messeroux @ Toddlewood transformed a selection of children into mini-mes to mimic the event's A-listers.

Groundhog Cupcakes

I didn't know there was a Groundhog Day until I started blogging! Heck, I've never even seen a real groundhog before! I am quite sure we don't have those critters over here on our side of the pond. But then again, we don't have spring either - just boring old summer all year round. A Groundhog Day party sounds fun! Boy, have we been missing out!
When these groundhog cupcakes popped up on Pinterest, I just couldn't resist making them. They are so stinkin' cute!

Dad Colours His Kids' Drawings

Tattoo artist Fred Giovannitti who spends 10 days out of each month, out of state to work, colours his kids' drawings when he is on the plane. When he leaves for his monthly trips, the kids  give him pictures they've drawn. Fred colors the drawings, transforms them into amazing works of art and gives the pictures back to Freddie, aged eight, and Sofia, six, when he returns.

'My children like to draw me pictures for my trip so I can keep them close to me while I'm away,' he says.

What a sweet collaboration between a loving father and his kids!
